My router is dieing

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

This a an urgent post to say that it appears that my router is not going to last much longer as every time it re-syncs it seems to be getting slower and slower. To this end access to the website will be very slow. I am currently looking for a replacement one that is more stable and fully ADSL2+ compatible.

spam comments getting worse

Monday, January 15th, 2007
After many attempts by me to filter out all of the spam comments that are being posted onto my blog they still seem to be getting worse. I am not sure what to do as if I keep adding filter words a lot of wanted posts may be blocked. I guess I will have to put up with it unless I can find a solution. If anyone who is reading this knows something I can try please feel free to email me or post a helpful comment to this post.

Website may be down

Friday, January 5th, 2007

Dear readers and customers there may be some instability with the website for the next hour or so as I am going to be trying to change some of the internet profiles available to me. Internode (my ISP) has a few months ago introduced annex M on their ADSL2+ network which doubles the max upload from 1.2Mbps to 2.5Mbps. I am hoping I can get one of these to work so that there will be more bandwidth for me to cater for more visitors and provide more services. I am not overly confident in be being able to achieve any better speeds with my current modem ( Netgear DG834g v2) as it has not been overly stable in the past when I have tried higher speeds. There has also been talk that the V2 probably does not support annex M and even ADSL2/+ as I think the hardware is not up it but this is what I am trying. If I am unsucessfull at the new speeds I will for the sort term just put it back they current way and then at a later date after some research buy a new modem that is fully ADSL2+ compliant.

Update

It would seem that annex M works at least sort of on my router as I have been able to connect at  14843 kbps downstream and 1794kbps upstream. I have even been able to stay connected for about 30 minutes and I think that it only lost sync as I was trying to run a line quality test from a website in the US. I will keep it at this setting for a while to see if it can hold a connection for a longer length of time.

Happy new year

Monday, January 1st, 2007

I would like to take this opportunity to hope that everyone had a merry Christmas and to wish you a happy new year.

Over the past month I have not been posting much on my blog as I have been taking some time off and with all of the Christmas stuff I have not found much time to write some stuff. Anyway I thought I would list some of my plans for the future. I will be doing a makeover of the website as I feel that It is not as good as it should and I know that the text needs some work to really sell what we do. I am also hoping to be producing a game with my brother as I have been wanting to try and produce a game and as my brother is a programmer it will give us an opportunity to work on a project together. I am also planning on producing some more items to go in my portfolio which better show of my skills as what i currently have I feel is not enough. I am also exploring some other things to add to my website. keep attuned to this blog for more updates.
